Tree Plantation
Tree Plantation & Parks Development
The rapid expansion of roads, bridges, airports, towns, and industries has led to the large-scale depletion of trees and forests, severely affecting natural rainwater harvesting and the ecological balance.
To counter this environmental erosion, tree plantation initiatives must be undertaken on a war footing, especially during the optimal months of July and August. Coordinated efforts across various ministries are crucial to identify, prepare, and maintain suitable areas for large-scale afforestation.
The following ministries can play a vital role in this mission:
- Ministry of Road Transport and Highways
To earmark areas along highways for tree plantations. - Ministry of Panchayati Raj & Rural Development
To convert available panchayat lands into forests and community parks. - Ministry of Tribal Affairs
To promote forestation in tribal areas and enhance green cover. - Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
To lead and coordinate nationwide tree plantation efforts. - Ministry of Fisheries
To restore neglected and dirty ponds, making them habitable for aquatic life by cleaning and introducing fish.
This initiative will not only restore greenery and improve biodiversity, but also contribute significantly to climate resilience, water conservation, and community well-being.
